The development of rail services

As part of a project aimed at improving of transport accessibility of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport a number of long-distance trains will make stops at the nearest to the airport railway station - Ob.


Starting from January 14, 2015, passengers travelling by trains from Tomsk, Omsk, Kemerovo region and Krasnoyarsk region are able to take advantage of a convenient bus shuttle transfer from Ob railway station to the Novosibirsk airport.



As reference, in autumn 2014, NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport in cooperation with Express-Prigorod, Omsk-Prigorod and the Federal Passenger Company launched a project aimed at improving of transport accessibility of the Novosibirsk airport and the Novosibirsk city.


Starting from October 2014, passengers from Omsk and Kulunda can get to the airport by electric trains with a bus transfer from Ob railway station. In addition, shuttle service from Ob station became in demand among residents of the Novosibirsk city getting to the airport by all existing commuter trains of the Western direction.


With the new service passengers became able to arrive at the airport and leave the airport without delay regardless of the situation on the roads.


Passenger traffic data on this services will provide the basis for further development of the direct rail link to the airport, including the creation of express rail serivce with the construction of a rail terminal at the airport.


NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories.
