New briefing room for flight crews
July 29, 2014, NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport opened a new briefing room for preflight crew briefings. In a new 60 m2 briefing room flight crew members are provided with all necessary meteorological and aeronautical information on airfields of departure, destination, alternate airfields and areas the flight path lays through. Briefing room is located in the controlled airport area in the airport’s dispatch control building in close proximity to the apron.
Creating of comfortable conditions for crews at the airport is a part of the infrastructure modernization program implemented to improve the quality of ground handling services provided to the airlines. According to the comments, the new facility meets the wishes of flight crew members flying through the Novosibirsk airport.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The domestic terminal capacity makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the capacity on international flights — up to 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO CAT I and CAT II. In 2013 the passenger traffic exceeded 3.7 mln passengers and cargo traffic totalled 29.9 thousand tons of cargo and mail handled. In 2014 the airport expects to serve 4.2 mln passengers and handle over 32 thousand tons of cargo and mail.
