20 years of Transaero Airlines operation in Novosibirsk
Transaero Airlines celebrates its 20th anniversary since the start of flight operation between Moscow and Novosibirsk. Its first flight on this route the airline operated on Boeing 737-200 aircraft on April 11, 1994.
During this period, Transaero Airlines performed more than 16 thousand flights between these two cities having transported over 1.5 mln passengers in total. Following the results in 2013, the airline’s passenger traffic in NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport totalled 339,542 passengers, including 154,531 passengers (45.5% of the overall volume of the airline’s passengers in Novosibirsk) travelling on the Moscow route and 185,011 passengers – on international routes.
Currently, Transaero Airlines operates two regular daily flights on Boeing 737NG and Boeing 777 aircraft from Moscow to Novosibirsk with three classes of service available: business, economy and tourist classes. Starting from January 14, 2014, one of the flights performed by the airlines offers the new option for its passengers – low-cost air services as a discounted class with reduced ticket prices for passengers in connection with the minimized service package.
Travelling with Transaero Airlines from Novosibirsk via Moscow air hub, passengers are able to use the extensive domestic and international route network of the carrier and choose one of over 200 destinations offered.
The programme of direct non-stop flights from Novosibirsk to the most popular international resorts is one of the top priorities for Transaero Airlines. Winter and Summer 2014 traffic programme introduces flights to such destinations as Anatalya, Bangkok, Barcelona, Dubai, Larnaca, Phuket, Rimini, Ho Chi Minh and Hurghada.
Considering the growing traffic volume from Novosibirsk, Transaero Airlines opened the line maintenance station at NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport in 2010, as well as the administration office with sales agency located in the very city centre (Sibirskaya str., 57).
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories. In 2013 the passenger traffic exceeded 3.7 mln passengers and cargo traffic totalled 29.9 thousand tons of cargo and mail handled. In 2014 the airport expects to serve 4.2 mln passengers and handle over 32 thousand tons of cargo and mail.
Transaero Airlines started operations in 1991. Being the second largest air carrier in Russia, the company served 12.5 mln passengers in 2013. The company ranks among 30 largest airlines in the world and 10 largest air carriers in Europe. Currently, its fleet comprises 98 aircraft: 20 Boeing 747, 14 Boeing 777, 15 Boeing 767, 44 Boeing 737, 3 Tu-214, 2 Tu-204-100С. Transaero has the largest fleet of long haul wide-body aircraft in Russia, CIS and the Eastern Europe. It is the first national air carrier to employ the most modern Airbus А380, Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental and Аirbus А320neo aircraft. Its route network covers more than 200 destinations in Russia and the countries of Europe, Asia, America and Africa. Transaero Airlines is the only Russian transport company which was assigned the top AAA(s) rating for Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
