NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport to extend cooperation with the Finnish freight carriers
The Finnish airfreight company Nordic Global Airlines which performs cargo flights for the national carrier Finnair Cargo, is extending its flights programme via Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport. According to Summer 2014 traffic programme, the volume of tech stops operated by the airline via Novosibirsk airport increases from two up to six weekly flights.
Ground handling services for tech stops on the route Helsinki (Vantaa) – Hanoi (Noi Bai) commence each Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, on the route from Hong Kong (Chek Lap Kok) to Helsinki – each Thursday, Friday and Sunday. All flights are operated on McDonnell Douglas MD-11F aircraft.
Engagement of the new freight carriers to operate tech stops via Novosibirsk stands for one of the key objectives of the airport development strategy. Positioned at the intersection of the major Trans-Eurasian routes, the airport is able to process transit cargo flows thanks to its favorable geographical location. Furthermore, technical stops on these routes enable air carriers to reduce fuel costs and increase aircraft payload.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest transit air hub in the Asian part of Russia. The airport has two runways, provides handling services of regular cargo flights for both Russian and foreign airlines such as AirBridgeCargo, Volga-Dnepr, Cargolux, Yangtze River Express, Nordic Global Airlines and others. The capacity of the freight complex Tolmachevo Cargo makes up 50,000 tons per year. In 2014 the airport expects to handle over 32,000 tons of cargo and mail.
Nordic Global Airlines is a cargo airline based in Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (Finland). The airline’s fleet consists of four McDonnell Douglas MD-11F capable to carry up to 500 m3 of cargo weighing up to 80 tons. The airline operates flights on the routes connecting Helsinki, Brussels, Hong Kong, New York, Hanoi, etc.
