Novosibirsk airport participated in Routes Asia and ITB Berlin international forums

The delegation of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport took part in Routes Asia 2014 forum held on March 7-9 in Kuching, Malaysia. The event attracted the leading airports and airlines of the Asia Pacific region.

 

Within the framework of the forum, the experts of Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport organized several meetings and conducted negotiations on viability of opening new air links from Novosibirsk and the possibilities to add flight frequencies on the already existing routes.

 

Amongst others, the Mongolian airline Hunnu Air expressed interest in launching of direct flight connection from Novosibirsk to Ulan Bator. Several Asian air carriers, including Jet Asia and Air Asia X, expect to develop the programme of charter flights from Novosibirsk to various Asian destinations. China Southern Airlines, another partner of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport, asserted the probable increase of flight frequencies on Novosibirsk – Urumqi route as well as expressed interest in launching flights to Beijing and Guangzhou in the future. The potential cooperation with the Arabian airlines was discussed as well, the launch of Novosibirsk – Dubai flights in particular.

 

Besides, on March 5-7, the representatives of Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport attended the largest international tourism exhibition ITB Berlin 2014. As a part of the fair’s programme, the airport delegates highlighted the transfer potential of Novosibirsk air hub at the joint stand of Siberia and participated in the press conference for the European media with the report on development prospects of the Russian inbound tourism via NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport for further travels across the Siberian region.

 

 

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories. In 2013 the passenger traffic exceeded 3.7 mln passengers and cargo traffic totalled 29.9 thousand tons of cargo and mail handled. In 2014 the airport expects to serve 4.2 mln passengers and handle over 32 thousand tons of cargo and mail.
