Tolmachevo Airport Celebrates Delivery Ceremony for ALROSA Aircraft to the Museum of Aviation History
On 29 September, the last flight of the legendary aircraft Тu-154 Izhma operated by ALROSA airlines from Mirny city (Yakutia) to Novosibirsk got a ceremony of aircraft delivery to the museum of aviation.
Tu-154M Ra-85684 was built in 1990, the aircraft has been operated by ALROSA airlines since 1999 and accumulated almost 24 thousand flight hours. During the last five years, the aircraft transported over 138,000 passengers and almost 930 tons of various types of cargo.

“Presently, ALROSA is the unique Russian operator of Tu-154 aircraft. Unfortunately, the service life of the legendary aircraft Tu-154 Izhma completed; today is the expiration date of Certificate of Airworthiness. As the extension of the certificate is unviable, we decided to do a good deed and to deliver the aircraft to the museum of aviation history in Novosibirsk. It should be noted that the final flight is a real passenger flight with over 40 people onboard the aircraft”, Sergey Zakrzhevskiy, the Deputy General Director of ALROSA said.

ALROSA airlines has long-term successful relationship with Tolmachevo Airport. To preserve the memory of the legendary aircraft, the company decided to deliver Tu-154 Izhma aircraft to the museum of aviation history of Novosibirsk airport.

“Preservation of traditions and the history of achievements of the past generations have great significance for any industry, especially for civil aviation”, Evgeniy Yankilevich, the General Director of JSC Tolmachevo Airport, mentioned. “For this very reason, a decision was made to create a museum of aviation in Tolmachevo Airport. Due to our partner airlines’ support and contribution into commemoration of aviation history, we can create a museum filled with the most interesting exhibits. I believe that delivery of this aircraft to the museum is a dignified completion of the aircraft operational life, being so useful and significant for the northern regions of Russia”.
Evgeny Novoselov and Andrei Lamanov, aircraft commanders operating world-famous flight of 2010 took part in the ceremony. The aircraft Tu-154 Izhma under the guidance of Mr. Lamanov made its final flight from Mirny to Novosibirsk.

The aviation history museum will be open to public after performing all the required maintenance works and setting the aircraft on the pedestal.
It is worth noting that two memorial aircraft of S7 Airlines have been displayed already in the museum of Novosibirsk airport: Тu-154М RA-85628 and Il-86 RA-86097.
The first aircraft Тu-154 was built in 1968. It was rightfully called the major passenger airliner in the Soviet Union. Besides, 150 Тu-154 aircraft were exported. Since 2008, following the economy crisis, the revenue operations of Тu-154 became unprofitable and Russian airlines massively started to cease operations of the type. Presently, the only two commercial operators of Tu-154 in the world are Air Koryo (North Korea) and ALROSA airlines (in addition to Izhma, the carrier still have one more Tu-154 aircraft in its fleet). Current characteristics of Tu-154 Izhma correspond to original factory specifications: length — 48 m, wingspan — 37.55 m, aircraft height — 11.4 m, maximum take-off weight of the airliner — 104, 000 kg. Flight range of the aircraft — 3,900 km, maximum cruise speed — 850 km/h. Aircraft seat capacity is 150 passengers and 4 cabin crew members.
"ALROSA Airline" JSC was created on the basis of the Mirny air enterprise, it performs air transportation in Yakutia, scheduled and charter transportation in Russia, charter international transportation to the countries of the CIS, Asia and Europe, freight transportation and special aviation works. The fleet of the airline consists of the following airliners: Boeing 737-800, Boeing 737-700, Tu-154М, Tu-134, An-24RV, An-38-100, that are meant for the transportation of passengers in the economy and business classes, and Mi-8T, Mi-MTV, Mi-171 and Mi-26 helicopters.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub east of the Urals on the main air routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, and international terminal capacity is 1,300 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II categories.
