Novosibirsk airport is certified for receiving of An-225

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is certified for providing ground handling services of the world’s largest aircraft An-225 Mriya. The corresponding decision was approved by the Federal Air Transport Agency (Rosaviatsiya) following the examination of the enterprise’s technical characteristics (availability of the necessary ground handling equipment, correspondence of the airfield dimensions, Surfaced RWY pavement strength etc.).

Novosibirsk Tolmachevo airport had already received this freighter twice – on 11th April in 2010 and 6th January in 2012. In order to provide ground handling services of the aircraft, Novosibirsk airport HAD to obtain one-time-only authorization from the aviation authorities as for ad-hoc charters. The airport experts suppose that the certificate will allow to stimulate volume increase of tech stops performed by An-225 aircraft via Novosibirsk. The capability to receive the world’s largest aircraft provides an opportunity to strengthen competitiveness of the airport in the market of air freight services and yet its readiness to receive and handle all aircraft types.

Worth to mention, in April 2011, NOVOSIBISRK International Airport was successfully certified for providing handling services of the largest passenger airliner Airbus A380.
