Tolmachevo Airport, together with the structures of Russian Railways, the Ministry of Transport and Roads of the Novosibirsk Region, the administration of the city of Ob, with the support of the Office of the Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District, continues the cooperation begun in late 2014 to develop the Ob railway station as a transport hub of Novosibirsk region.

As a result of 2017, passenger traffic of the Ob station increased by 36% compared to 2016 and reached 20,116 people. In 2017, trains on 32 long-distance trains stopped at Ob station.

Analysis of passenger traffic showed that the route to the Ob station is most in demand by passengers of the West Siberian, East Siberian, Sverdlovsk, Krasnoyarsk and South Ural railways. Most often, trips through the Ob station are performed by residents of Irkutsk, Yekaterinburg, Tyumen and Omsk.

In this regard, the further development of the Ob railway station as a trans-shipment hub of the western direction of the Novosibirsk region is becoming more and more important and of strategic importance for the development of multimodal transport and transport accessibility, including Tolmachevo Airport.

At the end of 2017, within the framework of the program "Development of highways of regional, intermunicipal and local significance of the Novosibirsk region", works were carried out to improve the road from Ob station to Stancionnaya Street. The road section and available access roads have been repaired, new road markings have been posted, priority signs and traffic lights have been installed, and road lighting has been carried out. The next stage in the development of the project is the launch of a regular bus route from the airport to the Ob station.

Tolmachevo, developing a route network of flights, forms together with its partner airlines an aviation hub on the most important routes between Europe and Asia, as well as the European part, southern regions, Siberia and the Far East of Russia.

By virtue of the project for the development of a transport hub at the Ob railway station, it is possible to carry out transportation by the train-bus-plane scheme. Such combined transport provides an opportunity for passengers arriving from neighboring cities by train to arrive at the airport, and also to leave the airport without delay, regardless of the situation on the roads. In addition, it allows passengers to use the extensive Tolmachevo route network, avoiding long flights and transfers in Moscow, reduces the total cost of travel.

Together with the Government of the Novosibirsk Region Tolmachevo Airport continues to work to improve the airport's transport accessibility for residents of Novosibirsk, Berdsk and other nearby cities within the Novosibirsk agglomeration.

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport (Tolmachevo) is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 1300 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories.
