The wind band’s live performance before morning departure

In the morning on February 5, 2014, Bis Band wind orchestra gave live performance on the ground floor of the Domestic passenger terminal at NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport. The music band from Karasuk, Novosibirsk region, comprising 40 young musicians, presented their concert programme specially prepared for the cultural events of the 22nd Winter Olympic Games.

Passengers of the morning flights and guests of the airport had a chance to enjoy live set and get their portion of good vibrations and positive preflight mood. During half an hour, the orchestra played original versions of the popular music pieces including jazz and rock ballads. Following the show, the musicians departed for the capital of the Olympics on direct Novosibirsk — Sochi Flight P2 5969 with ORENAIR airlines.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Culture of the Novosibirsk region in association withNOVOSIBIRSK International Airport. Chashka Kofe, a coffee house chain in Novosibirsk, was announced as a partner of the event.

Bis Band’s live performance opened the series of events dedicated to the Year of Culture in the Novosibirsk region hosted at Novosibirsk Tolmachevo airport. The airport expects to be fully engaged in this project providing its performance venues to various artists and musical groups from the region. Within the next few days, the airport also expects to host the performance of the Siberian Choir before another Sochi flight.

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity — up to 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories. In 2013 the passenger traffic exceeded 3.748 mln passengers and cargo traffic totalled 29.9 thousand tons of cargo and mail handled. In 2014 the airport expects to serve 4.2 mln passengers and handle over 32 thousand tons of cargo and mail.

Bis Band is a wind orchestra at the children’s music school of the Karasuk district, Novosibirsk region, established in 2003 on the initiative of the wind class teacher Alexander Punko and supported by the school principal Olga Semenchukova. Currently, the ensemble consists of 40 young musicians from 7 to 17 years. The team members are laureates and award winners of the international, all-Russian, interregional, regional contests and festivals in solo and team nominations (including art competitions organized abroad). According to the results of the online voting, Bis Band was announced as one of the best teams and performers in Russia and other countries participating in the Olympic Games.
