Tolmachevo Airport Will Serve More Flights of Russian Post from China

Russian Post’s own planes Tu-204C have increased frequency of regular flights from China to Russia. From August 2017, Russian Post’s planes have been performing 3 flights a week on the route Hangzhou-Novosibirsk. Earlier in March 2017, Russian Post launched regular flights from the cities of Zhengzhou and Harbin to Novosibirsk. The flights are operated by their own cargo airplanes Tu-204C.

These flights will contribute to speeding up delivery of the growing amount of mails from China before the peak season. Cargo from Hangzhou to Russia was earlier transported by rail or road. New flight will reduce delivery time from 15 to 7- 8 days.

Potential of Novosibirsk as a city situated on the intersection of the main air routes from Asia to Europe offers Tolmachevo airport an opportunity to develop as a cargo and post hub, as well as a major Trans-Urals mail logistics centre of the Russian Post.

“Growth of cross-border trade stimulates search of new effective logistic solutions. Increase of regular mail flights between Russia and China will not only provide speed-up of delivery of postal items but it will also contribute to the development of the transit potential of our country in the future,” as it was pointed out by the Head of the Russian Post’s Department of Air Transport Management Dmitry Obsharov.

In 2013, International Mail Processing Center (IMPC) of the Russian Post was opened in Tolmachevo airport for processing express mailings arriving from China and South Asian countries. IMPC at Tolmachevo airport became the fourth one in Russia built directly in the airport.

The project of building a mail logistics centre with the area of more than 40 thousand sq.m is now being implemented in the territory of Tolmachevo airport. The centre will be the key point of processing and distributing international mailings in Russia. IMPC’s capacity will be 1 million mailings per day. The commissioning of the centre is scheduled for 2018.

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport (Tolmachevo) is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 1300 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories.
