Tolmachevo Airport Has Handled Two Million Passengers Since the Beginning of the Year

Two million passengers were handled in Tolmachevo from the beginning of the year 2017 to June 21. Growth rate of the passenger traffic made it possible to gain this result 28 days earlier than in 2016. A millionth passenger was handled on April 6, thus, improving the result of the past year for 24 days.

Growth of production figures is a result of Tolmachevo airport’s and air carriers’ successful work of starting new flights, increasing frequency of flights on active routes as well as developing transfer flights. From the beginning of the year 2017 regional flights to Tomsk, Noyabrsk and Strezhevoy from Tolmachevo have been resumed. The airport has increased frequency of flights on a number of routes – Rostov-on-Don, Tyumen, Saint-Petersburg, Urumchi, Seoul, Almaty, Astana, Osh, Bishkek etc.

Rossiya Airlines increased capacity on the popular tourist route to Sochi – since June 5, the route has been served on wide-bodied Boeing 747 aircraft. S7 Airlines started direct regular flight to Tbilisi, and Ellinair ailine resumed seasonal direct flight to Thessaloniki.

Share of transfer passengers has increased to 20% in the total passenger traffic of the airport. The airport continues serving subsidized flights according to the programmes under Decrees No. 1242, No. 1095 and No. 388.

The airport is planning to offer new flights on such routes as Tamchy (Issyk Kul), Omsk, Karaganda in the summer timetable.

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport (Tolmachevo) is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 1300 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories. In 2016 passenger traffic of the airport exceeded the mark of 4 million passengers.
