Development of Air Communication with Belokurikha – a New Frontier for Tourism in Siberia
On June 17, General Director of JSC Airport Tolmachevo Evgeniy Yankilevich took part in the conference on the development of interregional air communication. The conference was held by the Envoy from the President of the Russian Federation in the Siberian Federal District Sergey Menyaylo.

The conference was dated for the experimental flight on Tomsk – Novosibirsk – Belokurikha route performed on June 17 by Siberian Light Aviation airline. In particular, a possibility to use landing field “Belokurikha” for arrangement of regular passenger flights was discussed. The landing field is located 5.5 kilometres far from the federal resort town of Belokurikha in Altay kray. It was decided to start regular flights to Belokurikha from Novosibirsk, Barnaul and Tomsk in a few months.

Sergey Menyaylo pointed out that development of interregional and regional air communication will contribute to solving the task of tourism development in Siberia and will promote growth of tourism.
At the conference, participants discussed measures necessary for arrangement of regular air communication on the routes mentioned above, further development of the landing field, cooperation between airlines and health resort institutions etc.
According to Sergey Menyaylo, it is necessary to consolidate efforts of all interested parties – airports, carriers, tour operators, representatives of resort business and government bodies in order to realize the project presented. In the meantime, it is “important to arrange the work in such a way as to make air communication safe and ticket price reasonable for people”.

The Envoy emphasized the fact that air routes to Siberian resort areas are socially important and have to be supported by the state. At present, the members of the Expert Group on the Development of Aviation in the Siberian Federal District jointly with the representatives of regional executive bodies are working over the proposal on the measures to support such routes for the Ministry of Transportation of Russia.
As a result of the conference, General Director of JSC Airport Tolmachevo Evgeniy Yankilevich pointed out that development of air communication between Belokurikha resort area and Novosibirsk as the largest regional hub will promote the popularity of the resort area among the residents of the nearby and farther regions of the country, and it will also contribute to attracting foreign tourists.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport (Tolmachevo) is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 1300 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories. In 2016 passenger traffic of the airport exceeded the mark of 4 million passengers.
