The Governor of the Novosibirsk region made an official visit to the International Mail Processing Centre at Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport
The Governor of the Novosibirsk region Vasiliy YURCHENKO familiarized himself with operation of EMS Russian Post International Mail Processing Centre (IMPC) opened at NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport.
In September 2013, by the joint order of the Federal Customs Service and the Ministry of Communications of Russia, IMPC of the airport was included into the official list of post offices within the Russian Federation territory. 29 October, 2013, the first consignment of international express mail from abroad was handled at the airport’s postal office. IMPC which opened at Novosibirsk airport became the fourth in the country and the first regional post office built directly at the airport and specializing on EMS Russian Post (FSUE Russian Post affiliate) express mail processing. IMPC’s creation project was supported by the Government of the Novosibirsk region.
Following the results of the working visit to NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport, Vasiliy YURCHENKO noted the high level of the facility’s equipment. “Opening of the International Mail Processing Centre at Novosibirsk airport is another proof of significance of our region as one of the largest national transport and logistics hubs. The key point is that this facility can substantially reduce processing period and, as a result, the overall delivery time. On our part, we will take whatever measures necessary in order to ensure full utilization of the Novosibirsk IMPC,” commented the Governor of the Novosibirsk region.
“NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport intends to proceed with investments in infrastructure development to handle cargo and mail for the Siberian region and to attract new partners specializing in postal and freight logistics,” underlined the General Director of Airport Tolmachevo JSC Evgeniy YANKILEVICH. The airport already invested over 1.5 mln USD into IMPC’s creation having prepared special area of more than 2,000 m2 fitted with necessary inspection and conveyor equipment.
The capacity of the postal office at Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport enables to process the increasing volume of EMS post items coming from China and South East Asia to recipients in the Siberian, Ural and Far Eastern Federal Districts. The distribution of the international express mail flow by geographical zones will optimize workload of the Moscow Air Hub and allow EMS Russian Post to reduce delivery time.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest transit air hub in the Asian part of Russia. The airport has two runways, provides handling services of regular cargo flights for both Russian and foreign airlines such as AirBridgeCargo, Volga-Dnepr, Cargolux, Air China Cargo, Yangtze River Express and others. Capacity of the freight complex Tolmachevo Cargo makes up 50,000 tons per year.
