Novosibirsk airport at China International Air Routes Summit 2013

The delegates of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport took part in the 3rd China International Air Routes Summit, held 11-13 September, 2013 in Shenzhen (Guangdong, People’s Republic of China).

The summit was organized by Shenzhen Airport (Group) Co Ltd, while NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport joined as one of its official partners. The event was attended by the leading airports and air carriers of the People’s Republic of China, aviation authorities as well as officials of the largest airlines and airports of West Europe and Middle East.

The Commercial Director of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport Gregory POMERANTSEV presented his report on prospects of air traffic development between Russia and China and transfer potential of Novosibirsk airport for the Chinese tourists traveling in Siberia. He also underlined the advantages of making technical stops at Novosibirsk airport for the freight carriers operating between China and West Europe.

Within the framework of the summit, the airport’s delegation also conducted series of negotiations with China Southern Airlines concerning flight frequency enhancement on the existing routes as well as with Air China and Hainan Airlines on possible partnership. Currently, the airport has direct regular flights scheduled with four cities of People’s Republic of China such as Beijing, Hong Kong, Harbin and Urumqi. Another three destinations are considered to be prospective for passengers of Novosibirsk airport, among them Shanghai, Chengdu, Guangzhou. Flights to the latter had been performed until April 2012.

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The domestic airline capacity makes up 1,800 passengers per hour, on international flights – 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways. In 2013 it expects to serve over 3.7 million passengers and handle over 35 thousand tons of cargo and mail.
