NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport participated in Routes CIS 2013 forum
The delegation of NOVOSBIRSK International Airport took part in Routes CIS 2013 forum held from 21st to 23rd July in Donetsk, Ukraine. Within the framework of the event, most topical issues of route network development in the CIS countries were highlighted as well as prospects of passenger and cargo traffic growth. Over 250 delegates representing the leading international airports and air companies, aviation industry experts and tour operators participated in the forum.
The airport’s representatives conducted a series of negotiations both with airlines and airports concerning the issue of launching new regular flights from Novosibirsk. Following the results of the meetings, such routes as Novosibirsk – Odessa and Novosibirsk – Riga were added to the list of perspective destinations. Furthermore, jointly with air carriers the airport considered the possibility of flight frequency increase to such cities as Moscow, St. Petersburg, Simferopol, Astana, Bishkek, Frankfurt, Munich and Prague. The issues of potential partnership with Air Baltic,Turkish Airlines Cargo, Etihad Airways, Adria and other airlines were negotiated as well.
Specialists of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport took part in the panel discussion on the topic “Airport Infrastructure” which was held at the international conference Airports Development Strategy. The discussion raised such issues as the development of airport infrastructure in terms of demand changes in passenger transportation, airport infrastructure financing problems, the role of regional airports in the CIS market and others.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The domestic airline capacity makes up 1,800 passengers per hour, on international flights – 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways.In 2013 it expects to serve over 3.7 million passengers and handle over 35 thousand tons of cargo and mail.
Routes CIS is one of five regional forumsorganized within World Routes Forum (the World Routes Development Forum), the largest aviation forum hosting airports, airlines, equipment suppliers, investors, international and regional associations and national tourism organizations. Held since 1995, it includes regional forums organized in Europe (Routes Regional Europe), Asia (Routes Regional Asia), CIS (Routes CIS), Africa (Routes Regional Africa) and America (Routes Regional Americas).
