Yangtze River Express - a new cargo airline at Novosibirsk International Airport
Chinese cargo airline Yangtze River Express started operations with technical stops at Novosibirsk International Airport (Tolmachevo). Flights on trans-Siberian routes are performed three times a week on Boeing 747-400F. Landings and refueling at Novosibirsk airport allows airline to optimize flights between cities in China and South-East Asia and Europe.
In 2013 Yangtze River Express plans to increase the number of flights up to six a week. Airport and airline specialists are considering also the possibility of commercial flights to Novosibirsk in the future.
Evgeniy Yankilevich, General Director of JSC "Airport Tolmachevo" noted that increasing the number of foreign cargo airlines at Novosibirsk International Airport is the result of airfield infrastructure modernization and a set of marketing activities. Also, skilled personnel and favorable geographical position of Novosibirsk airport play important role in airlines’ decision to cooperate with Tolmachevo.
The launch of operations of China’s second largest cargo airline underlines the advantages of Novosibirsk International Airport as the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Asia and Europe and increases awareness and interest in its services among other foreign carriers. Novosibirsk International Airport continues to improve its ground handling infrastructure. In particular, it is planned to build a modern container yard and additional aircraft parking stands covering the area of over 80 000 square meters, with all necessary equipment to service wide-body cargo aircraft.
Novosibirsk International Airport (Tolmachevo) has two runways. The airport provides handling for regular flights of Russian and foreign cargo airlines such as AirBridgeCargo, Aeroflot, Volga-Dnepr, Cargolux, Air Cargo Germany, Air China Cargo and others.
