Tolmachevo Airport has confirmed its compliance with BCAA standards once again

Aircrafts’ ground maintenance and technical service of NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport has confirmed its compliance with the international standards of Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA) for the third time.


NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport received OTAR Part-145 Option 1 certificate, confirming permission to carry out linear technical servicing of Boeing 747-400 and MD-11 aircrafts in 2012. In 2014, the scope of the BCAA certificate was extended, and linear technical servicing of Boeing 747-8F was permitted after the appropriate confirmation by the European Aviation Safety Agency had been received. The majority of freight services at Tolmachevo airport are performed on these aircrafts.

October audit confirmed the competence of aircrafts’ ground maintenance and technical service, and the certificate was prolonged for two years. According to the auditors, the airport’s equipment, storage and office premises, technical documents and personnel involved in the technical servicing and repairs of Boeing 747-400F, Boeing 747-8F and MD-11, meet the BCAA requirements.

Regular audits and quality control of the airport services’ operation is an element of the safety system of the flights.

NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 1300 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories.

European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) is European Union’s agency for regulating and securing the goals of civil aviation safety. Within EASA’s scope of responsibility are analysis and research in the field of safety, submitting confirmations to foreign airlines, consulting in the course of developing European aviation law, introduction and monitoring of safety regulations, issuing type certificates of aircrafts and components as well as permission functions with respect to the organisations engaged in the development, manufacture and maintenance of aviation products.

Bermuda Department of Civil Aviation (BCAA) is a body responsible for control and supervision of safety of the flights performed by the Bermudas’ aircrafts and all the aircrafts entered in the Bermuda Aviation Register. Aviation authorities of the Bermudas, having been established in 1931, were known as Bermuda Department of Civil Aviation (BDCA). On October 1, 2016 they were given the name of Bermuda Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA). Regulatory requirements are set out as Overseas Territories Aviation Requirements (OTARs) and satisfy completely the standards and recommended practice of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
