Passenger Traffic Increased by 5% at Half-Year End
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport handled 1,655,538 passengers based on the results of six months of 2016. Passenger traffic has increased by 5 % in relation to the same indicator of the last year. The quantity of serviced cargo totaled 7,873 tons. The volume of mail handled amounted to 1,388 tons (+27% compared to the same indicator of 2015). 9,658 sorties (+0.5%) were carried out in the first half of the year.
Flights to Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Blagoveshchensk, Samara and Sochi became the most popular directions among passengers of the Novosibirsk airport. Namangan, UstKamenogorsk, Almaty, Tashkent and Yerevan directions have shown the largest growth in the CIS countries. Krabi, Thessaloniki, Larnaca, Munich, Heraklion, as well as such new directions as Monastir, Hammamet, Shanghai became the most popular among far abroad routes in the first half of the year.
Development of the transfer operations project, implemented in cooperation with S7 Airlines and the airlines parties to the M2 "closed fare" multilateral agreement in many ways contributes to growth of passenger traffic.

From January to June 2016 the airport serviced 268,300 transfer passengers. At year-end Tolmachevo airport is planning to reach a transfer share of 13% of the total passenger traffic, which will approach to indicators of the Moscow Air Transportation Cluster airports.
Meanwhile, passenger traffic of tourists from China and South Korea to Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Sochi and back through Tolmachevo airport may exceed 70,000 passengers at 2016 year-end.
"Such indicators confirm the correctness of the chosen strategy to develop Tolmachevo airport as the main Russian air hub on the main routes between China, Korea and other Asian countries and the central part of Russia," noted General Director of JSC "Tolmachevo Airport" Evgeniy Yankilevich.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 1300 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories.
