Following the results of 2015 the number of passengers using connecting flights in Novosibirsk exceeded the figure of 2014 by 43.8% and totaled 385.4 thousand people (10.4% share of total passenger traffic). By the end of 2016 NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport plans to increase the transfer share up to 12-13%. For comparison, in 2012 it amounted 4%.
The project on development of transfer transportations via Novosibirsk airport is implemented by a base airline S7 Airlines, as well as the airlines participating in multilateral agreement M2 (Closed fare).
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport acts as the initiator of new projects on the development of this type of transportation. Thus, on the initiative of the airport the Novosibirsk city hosted a working meeting between the mainline carrier S7 Airlines and airlines actively developing regional transportation - IrAero and Angara Airlines. At the meeting parties discussed the possibility to conclude individual agreements on the development of transfer transportations via Novosibirsk.
As a result of cooperation it is expected to create the transfer fares via Novosibirsk in reservation systems for residents of small cities of the Siberian region where no flights of S7 Airlines are operated. Thus, regional passengers will get an additional opportunity to use an extensive route network of the Novosibirsk airport, which comprises more than 90 destinations in Russia and abroad.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 1300 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories.
