The Development of Rail Services
Air travelers from Siberia are able to reach the Novosibirsk airport by rail. Started from December 13, 2015, with the introduction of the new train schedule for 2016, JSC "Federal Passenger Company" appointed an additional stop for long-distance trains on the railway station Ob, located in the immediate vicinity of the airport.
Thus, in addition to the already stopping trains the stop on the Ob railway station is appointed for additional 17 trains coming from Omsk, Tomsk, Novokuznetsk and Krasnoyarsk.
In addition, also starting from December 13, 2015, the daily rapid rail connection linked Tomsk and Barnaul with Novosibirsk.
Due to the developing system of combined transportation in Novosibirsk railway transportation may become a convenient way for air travelers from the nearby regions to get to the Tolmachevo airport.
Combined transportation using the railway communication provides passengers smooth and rapid transportation without traffic jams allowing to arrive or leave the airport on time.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories. In 2014 the passenger traffic exceeded 3.9mln passengers and cargo traffic totaled 28.6 thousand tons of cargo and mail handled.
