Novosibirsk Airport Expands Range of Services for Transfer Passengers
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport continues its work on improving the terminal infrastructure and increasing service level for transfer passengers.
Due to joint work of the airport, partner airlines and operators of tourism industry the number of transfer passengers at the Novosibirsk airport is growing annually. The share of transfer passengers in 2012 amounted 4% of the total passenger traffic. For comparison, in 2015 this figure increased by 2.5 times up to 10%. Project for the development of transfer transportations via the Novosibirsk airport is being implemented by base airline S7 Airlines, and the airlines - members of a multilateral agreement M2 (Closed fare).
After the reconstruction of the International Terminal B the capacity of the airport complex has doubled up to 3,100 passengers per hour. Terminals A and B are now connected by a convenient passage. The navigation system of the international section of the airport (Section B) is supplemented with pointers in Chinese.

The airport has agreed with the located near the airport hotels SKYPORT and SKYEXPO on special terms for transfer passengers, so that passengers traveling through the airport and awaiting for their flight are able to stay in these hotels at a reduced rate for a period of up to 12 hours.
In addition, the Tolmachevo airport implements a special service technology for transfer passengers and their luggage. Luggage passes all the necessary customs clearance procedures, processes and delivers to a connecting flight without participation of the passenger. Depending on the type of transportation and the route of travel, passengers may skip re-registration, customs clearance, passport control and preflight inspection before boarding the next flight.
The service technology applies to transfer passengers using all possible schemes of transfer on domestic and international flights at NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport.
Evgeniy Yankilevich, CEO of Tolmachevo Airport JSC notes that the Novosibirsk airport has a significant potential for development as a transfer hub not only on routes from Europe to China and back, but also within Russia. And the main task for the airport is to develop mechanisms and solve strategic issues, enabling to increase transfer passenger traffic, in cooperation with partner airlines and other interested parties.
One of such solutions is the introduction of the 72-hour visa-free regime for international passenger travelling via Russian airports. Tolmachevo airport supports this project by interacting with the authorities of the Russian Federation, in particular with the Government of the Novosibirsk region.
"According to experts of the Tolmachevo airport, the introduction of the 72-hour visa-free regime will allow attracting the up to 200 000 additional transfer passengers per year at NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport", - says Evgeniy Yankilevich.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories. In 2014 the passenger traffic exceeded 3.9mln passengers and cargo traffic totalled 28.6 thousand tons of cargo and mail handled.
