Accessible Environment For Passengers with Disabilities
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport improves the infrastructure for passengers with disabilities and creates accessible environment for their stay in passenger terminals.
In July, 2015, the airport completed the reconstruction of the International Section B of the terminal building. As the Domestic Section A, the international section meets the general requirements for the creation of an accessible environment for passengers with disabilities, it is equipped with ramps, lifts, lifting platforms and special restrooms. Medical Service of the airport offers ambulatory elevators that simplify the process of boarding of this category of passengers. The Domestic Section A is equipped with relaxation room for a comfortable stay of passengers with disabilities while waiting for the departure. All airport personnel involved in servicing of passengers are briefed and can provide all necessary assistance.
As part of the creation of an accessible environment in the airport it is planned to place additional information signs and information desks to call support and assistance during the passage of preflight procedures.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories. In 2014 the passenger traffic exceeded 3.9mln passengers and cargo traffic totalled 28.6 thousand tons of cargo and mail handled.
