NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport Participated in the 4th Transport of Siberia Forum
May 27-30, 2015, NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport became a participant of the IV International Forum Transport of Siberia and the organizer of a conference on air transport.
At the plenary session of the Forum General Director of the airport Evgeniy Yankilevich presented a report on Multimodality as a mechanism of mutually beneficial cooperation between aviation and rail transport in which he spoke about the effect that rail transport can get due to organizing a high-speed rail connection in Western Siberia and interaction with the airport and airlines.
The key event of the forum was a conference on air transport, which brought together representatives of key regional airports, the largest Russian and regional airlines as well as representatives of Ministry of Transport and Federal Air Transport Agency. The conference was also attended by representatives of airports and airlines, such as S7 Airlines, Turkish Airlines, IrAero, Angara Airlines, ALROSA Airlines and others. Discussion was moderated by a well-known Russian aviation journalist and editor in chief of the AviaPort agency Oleg Panteleev.
During the conference, Evgeniy Yankilevich presented a report on the development of the airport Tolmachevo in new economic conditions, which was focused on the need in diversifying the airport business. Special attention was paid to the development of transfer passenger transportation, freight and mail traffic, as well as the active support of the airlines participating in state subsidy programs on regional air transportation.
The conference also included reports of Transport Ministers from Krasnoyarsk region and Republic of Buryatia, representatives of S7 Airlines, Angara Airlines, Krasavia, and others. On May 29, the forum served as a platform for Air Service Consultations on the development of air routes between Russian Federation and Republic of Mongolia.
During the forum the first meeting of the experts group on the development of aviation in Siberian Federal District took place, convened by the Apparatus of the Presidential Plenipotentiary in Siberian Federal District. Following the first meeting, the group formulated a number of proposals concerning improvement of the state regulation and support of regional passenger transportation. At the closing of the conference Minister of Transport of Russian Federation Maxim Sokolov thanked the organizers of the forum and praised its platform in terms of the search of new solutions in the development of the transport sector.
NOVOSIBIRSK International Airport is the largest air hub in Russia east of the Urals on major transit routes between Europe and Asia. The capacity of domestic terminal makes up to 1,800 passengers per hour, while the international terminal capacity – up to 750 passengers per hour. The airport has two runways of ICAO I and II Categories. In 2014 the passenger traffic exceeded 3.9mln passengers and cargo traffic totalled 28.6 thousand tons of cargo and mail handled.
